New Businesses and Renovations:

The Broad Street Market is Making Progress

Harrisburg, PA (November 22, 2014) – Harrisburg’s Broad Street continues to make progress toward its goals of becoming the food-focused community hub that it once was.  The market is welcoming two new businesses into the mix of current vendors and is encouraging current vendors to make renovations.

JB Kelly Seafood Connection is a well established business that currently vends in 18 farmers markets in the region.  JB Kelly’s proprietor, John B. Kelly, travels to Maine on a regular basis to procure a variety of seafood products.  The company prides itself in being sustainable and having a strong focus on freshness.  Kelly was an educator before starting this company and has a knack of offering interesting and helpful information to customers.   The operation will be holding a soft opening during the week of Thanksgiving and a grand opening is slated for mid December.

Elementary Coffee Company is celebrating its grand opening today!  Elementary Coffee Co. is a new and budding business that is owned and operated by Andrea Grove- Musselman.  Grove-Musselman is an experienced roaster with roots in St. Thomas Roasters of Linglestown.   The market’s interim manager, Ashlee O. Dugan commented, “We are thrilled to welcome this new business to the market family.  I’ve been very impressed with Elementary Coffee Co.’s owner and staff.  They are the type of entrepreneurial endeavor that has the potential to attract a strong customer base and to become a pillar within the Broad Street Market.”

In addition to the new businesses being added to the Broad Street Market, there have been a number of renovations to the current stands.  Smucker’s Chicken enclosed their popular stand with handmade wood panels, Fisher’s Deli has added a beautiful locally made pastry cabinet, and Peach Ridge Produce has added an olive and pickle bar to their evolving stand.  Market goers will also notice that Lil’s Pretzels has moved into a newly constructed stand which allows them to produce more pretzels and creates an atmosphere in which they can make whoopee pies on site.  Lil’s is also adding local ice cream from Urban Churn to their menu in the coming weeks.
