Reps. Patty Kim, David Madsen Secure $350,000 State Funding Commitment for Broad Street Market

Broad Street Market Alliance (“Market”) vendors, board members, volunteers, and supporters joined elected officials today as State Representatives Patty Kim and David Madsen announced that they have secured a $350,000 state funding commitment for the Market. This historic investment will enable the Market to make long-needed repairs and improvements to existing facilities and help sustain the Market financially during the Brick Building restoration project.

“This funding commitment is an absolute game-changer for the Broad Street Market, which recently became financially solvent for the first time since last year’s fire, in conjunction with the financial sustainability plan put in place earlier this year,” said Eric Hagarty, Chair of the Market’s Board of Directors. “We will now be in a position to do more than barely make ends meet - we will be able to invest in the Market’s facilities and address some long-standing needs for the businesses that operate at the Market and the community that depends on it. We are so lucky to have leaders like Rep. Patty Kim and Rep. David Madsen fighting for and delivering for the Market at the state level.”

“On behalf of all the vendors, we want to thank Representatives Patty Kim and David Madsen for their commitment to the Broad Street Market, but most of all, their commitment to our community,” said Tito Tep, owner of Tep’s Fresh Seafood in the Stone Building, and vendor representative on the Market Board of Directors.
